How to share Apple Health data with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini
Last updated 29 October 2026
AI chats are good at spotting trends in your own numbers, such as how your sleep changed after a new routine or how your resting heart rate moves with training. The hard part is getting the data in. Apple’s full export is too big for a chat to accept and full of readings you didn’t ask about.
Steps
- Open Vitalsnip, tap Data and pick the types you want to ask about.
- Choose the dates. A few weeks is usually enough for a question about a trend.
- Choose Daily detail for trends, or Every Reading when the question is about specific moments.
- Set Format to Markdown. Chats read its tables well. JSON also works and comes with a short field guide.
- Tap Show Data. The results screen shows an approximate token count, so you know roughly how much of the chat’s context the file uses.
- Tap Copy and paste into the chat, or Share and pick the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini app.
Tips for good answers
- Say what changed and when: “I started running on 1 October. Did my resting heart rate change?”
- Turn on Compare with Previous Period (Premium) to give the chat the period before as a baseline.
- Ask for a chart or a table back if you want something to keep.
What gets shared
Vitalsnip never sends your data to an AI service itself. It makes the file on your iPhone. When you share it with a chat app, that app’s own privacy terms apply to what you send, so share only what you’re comfortable with.
AI chats can be wrong, and they aren’t a doctor. Use their answers as questions to bring to a professional, not as a diagnosis.
