How to export workouts from Apple Health
Last updated 29 October 2026
Workouts from the Apple Watch Workout app, and from apps such as Strava that save to Health, are stored as workouts with an activity type, a start and end time, and totals such as distance and active energy.
Export workouts
- Open Vitalsnip, tap Data and pick Workouts (under Activity).
- Choose the dates.
- Tap Show Data.
Each workout is one row: the activity (such as running or strength training), start and end time, duration in minutes, distance in kilometers when the workout has one, energy in kilocalories, and the app or device that recorded it.
Pick a format
- CSV to total your training per week in a spreadsheet.
- Markdown to ask an AI chat to review a training block, for example “how did my weekly running distance change over the last 8 weeks?”
- JSON for your own scripts.
Add Heart Rate with Hourly detail to the same export (Premium) to see how hard each session was.
The export doesn’t include GPS routes. Apple’s full export (Health > profile > Export All Health Data) includes them as GPX files.
