How to export steps from Apple Health

Last updated 29 October 2026

Your iPhone counts steps whenever it’s with you, and an Apple Watch counts them too. Health combines both so the same step isn’t counted twice. That combined total is the number most people want to export.

Export steps

  1. Open Vitalsnip, tap Data and pick Steps (under Activity).
  2. Choose the dates. The free version covers the last 7 days; Premium covers any range.
  3. Choose Daily for one total per day, or Hourly to see when you walked.
  4. Choose CSV for a spreadsheet or Markdown for an AI chat, then tap Show Data.

Daily and hourly totals match the Health app, because they’re calculated the same way. Every Reading exports the raw samples from each device, which can add up to more than the daily total when two devices counted the same walk.
