Roomjot is made by Plainwren. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Roomjot on iPhone and iPad.
The short version
We don’t collect any data. Roomjot has no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no servers of ours. The App Store privacy label for Roomjot is “Data Not Collected”.
Your inventory
The homes, rooms, categories and items you enter, with their prices, shops, model and serial numbers, warranty and return dates and notes, are stored in the app’s own storage on your device. Roomjot doesn’t send them anywhere. Like other app data, they’re included in your device’s own backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you have those turned on. Deleting the app deletes them from the device.
Photos, receipts and the camera
You can add photos to an item by taking them with the camera or choosing them from your library, and add a receipt by scanning it, choosing a photo of it or choosing a PDF or image from Files. Roomjot asks for camera access only when you first tap Take Photo, Scan Receipt, Add from Receipt or a scan button next to a serial or model number. Choosing photos uses the system photo picker, which gives Roomjot only the photos you pick, so it never asks for access to your library. Roomjot copies each photo, and a small preview of it, into its own storage on your device, protected by your passcode, and never uploads them. Choosing a file uses the system file browser, which gives Roomjot only the file you pick; Roomjot copies it into the same protected storage. Removing a photo or receipt, or deleting the item, deletes the copies. When you open or share a receipt, Roomjot puts a copy named after the item in its temporary storage on your device, replaced the next time you open or share one.
Reading receipts
To fill in the shop, purchase date and price, Roomjot reads the text on a receipt with Apple’s text recognition, which runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad. The receipt and its text are never sent anywhere. You check the filled-in fields before saving.
Scanning serial and model numbers
The scan button next to an item’s serial or model number opens the camera to read the barcodes and text on a product label. Roomjot reads them with Apple’s VisionKit, entirely on your iPhone or iPad, and fills in only the number you pick. Nothing is looked up online: Roomjot never sends a barcode, a serial number or the camera picture anywhere, and it doesn’t keep the picture.
Reminders
If you set a warranty end or a last day to return an item, Roomjot schedules notifications on your device for a week before and on the day. It asks for permission to send notifications the first time you save one of those dates. The notifications are local: they’re scheduled by iOS on your device and never go through a server. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.
Exports and the insurance report
You can export every item as a spreadsheet (CSV) file, and, with Premium, make an insurance report: a PDF of one home’s items with their photos and receipts if you include them. Roomjot makes both files on your device and writes them to the app’s temporary storage. They leave the device only when you choose where they go from the share sheet, such as Mail, Messages, Files or a printer. The insurance report is deleted from the temporary storage when the share sheet closes.
Imports
With Premium, you can import items from a CSV file, such as another inventory app’s export. Choosing the file uses the system file browser, which gives Roomjot only the file you pick. Roomjot reads it on your device, shows you what it will add, and saves the items in its own storage only when you tap Import. The file itself isn’t kept, and nothing in it is sent anywhere.
Purchases
Roomjot Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. Roomjot checks what you’ve bought on the device using Apple’s StoreKit.
Crash reports
If you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and basic usage statistics with us. Apple doesn’t identify you in them. We use them only to fix problems.
Children
Roomjot doesn’t collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don’t collect or hold any of your data, there’s nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete.
Changes to this policy
If Roomjot changes how it handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before that version is released.
