Common questions

What does the free version include?

Every feature. The free version keeps 3 transcripts at a time (delete one to make room) and transcribes up to 15 minutes of each recording or file. Longer audio is kept, and the first 15 minutes are transcribed. LocalScribe Unlimited removes both limits. It’s a one-time Lifetime purchase, or an annual or weekly subscription.

I bought Unlimited. How do I get it on another device or after reinstalling?

Open Settings in LocalScribe and tap Restore Purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.

How do I cancel a subscription or ask for a refund?

Apple manages both. Cancel in your iPhone’s Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t see or change App Store payments.

Transcription is stuck on downloading, or says the language isn’t available

The first time you use a language, iOS downloads Apple’s speech model for it. Stay connected to the internet until the download finishes. After that, LocalScribe works offline. If your device or language isn’t supported for on-device transcription, LocalScribe tells you, because it never sends audio to a server instead.

Why don’t I see summaries or Ask?

They use Apple Intelligence, so they need a device that supports it, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings.

How do I move my transcripts to a new iPhone?

LocalScribe doesn’t sync to iCloud. Transfer your old iPhone to the new one with Quick Start, or restore the new iPhone from a backup of the old one. You can also export transcripts with Share > Export As.

My Apple Watch recording hasn’t appeared on my iPhone

The Watch sends a recording to your iPhone when the two are connected, and keeps it until your iPhone confirms it arrived. Keep your iPhone nearby with Bluetooth on, and open LocalScribe on the iPhone.

Can LocalScribe record phone calls?

iOS doesn’t let apps record phone calls. On iOS 18.1 and later, the Phone app can record a call itself and tells everyone on the call that it’s being recorded. Recording laws differ by place, and some require everyone’s consent.

How do I delete my data?

Delete transcripts and audio in the app. Voice profiles are under Settings > Known Voices. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. We don’t hold any copy. See the privacy policy.
